#1: DO A CLEAN UP EACH MONTH

Unwanted files and folders take up useful memory, and if they are being more than enough will slow down your computer.Save them to disk if you think those files will be useful for future reference.


#2: USE ANTI-VIRUS SOFTWARE

These programs can help your computer from Virus attacks.I recommend something like Kasperski or Avast Pro.If you can't afford the price of antivirus,you can conduct free online virus scan.( I recommend Panda ).


#3: PERFORM DISK SCAN EVERY WEEK

This will make sure that your files are in working order. This scan should be performed every week.


#4: DEFRAGMENT YOUR COMPUTER

This will make sure that your files are organized and your computer is running at optimal speeds.This should be done every month.


#5: CREATE SYSTEM RESTORE POINTS EVERY WEEK

In case of any trouble caused by viruses, restore points will ensure that your data is recoverable.


#6: BACKUP YOUR DATA

Backup your important files.This will make sure you won't loss any important files in case of an unexpected hard disk crash.


#7: DELETE COOKIES AND EMPTY THE CACHE

This will save some memory and will protect your PC from spyware to an extend.


#8: FORMAT YOUR HARD DRIVE

If you cant find success with all of the above, then you should consider formatting  your hardrive.
